New Acai Spot to Hit Gainesville

Gainesville's food options are about to get a little sweeter.


As the city continues to add new spots to the city, Rush Bowls is another health-food restaurant on the list.

Rush Bowls is a chain that offers 17 natural smoothies and 21 different acai bowl options. It also caters to people with all types of dietary restrictions including vegetarians, vegans, soy-free, dairy-free and more.

The chain was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2004. Franchise Owner Sean Byers says he opened up the chain as a healthy spot for college students.

He says he plans for the new location to not only be a reliable place of health for students, but also for jobs and involvement.

Byers is originally from Gainesville, so he says he wants to bring his chain back to where he came from.

Gainesville locals can expect to see the sweet spot in the summer of this year. Although an exact location hasn't been determined, it is planned to be located somewhere on West University Avenue.
